Somewhat surprisingly, the south Indian state of Karnataka is home to a large and prospering community of Tibetan exiles, centered on the vast Namdroling Monastery near Bylakuppe. The impressively solemn and sonorous spectacle of 600 Tibetan Buddhist monks and novices in prayer was counterpointed by this candid shot of a curious and distracted youngster.
